ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING, it’s a hellhole, it’s not fit for anybody let alone children, there are OBVIOUS drug users and crazy people right on the door step (literally) there’s a stink to the whole place that makes you heave from the second you enter, it looks like a cleaner has never set foot inside. The rooms are in the worst state I’ve ever seen a place, squats are better, it’s like a dungeon of misery. How the council are getting away with housing people here is totally beyond me I thinks it’s disgraceful.

It’s now a place where the council dump homeless people including single women with children. One star is 5 too many.

Cheap budget accommodation that appears to be providing temporary accommodation to the council. Room was clean enough although it needs a paint job. I was surprised how quiet it was and I slept well enough. The toilets were grim with no loo roll, it seems the clientele were unable to work out how to flush.  Receptioin staff were helpful and friendly.

As soon as I got there I was meant to go straight to my room as 9 booked online yet I was refused entry and told to pay a £50 security deposit which they said was on the website But I had someone check it out of three times and it said nothing about it at all. Yet the level of customer service was outrageous. I would not recommend this to anyone unless u desire to be extortionated 

Complete liar's with a level of partiality one rule for some and different for other's 

Upon arriving to this establishment I was immediately disappointed my booking was non refundable as I was greeted to strong smells of mould and smoke in my room and discovered stains on my bed sheets , lovely. There was also a stain which resembled faeces on my “clean” towel, the facilities provided in the hotel such as the shared toilets and bathrooms all had no toilet paper or anti bacterial hand wash which I felt like I needed in a place like this . When question hotel staff on if a cleaner was actually employed I was met with laughter and jokes and comments on how the hotel was basic but this was a big understatement. There was no basic appliances such as kettle, tv etc. 5 of us booked this place and only 2 made it to end of the 3 day stint bare in mind our purpose of this stay was work not as a holiday maker. 2 immediately left on the spot without caring for their refund which should speak volumes about the place. To top this off when leaving and collecting the £50 deposit from reception we where handed a very questionable £50 note which we would not accept . To put it in basic terms I would not wish this place on the homeless.

Room stank of urine and stale cigerettes. The room was filthy, even had a false nail on the floor. Cigerette burns on the window sill. Sticky tape marks on the walls, a long with a lipstick kiss and writing. Wardrobe falling apart. A draw missing in the set of draws. Bed was falling to bits. Dont except room 33. On leaving there was vomit on either side of the entrance to the hostel. I ended up here because my reservation at the Lucky 8 Hotel was declined because my card wouldnt work in their machine. I could pay cash but they wouldnt except it, company policy. York hostel is their sister hotel, a very poor relation. ****CUSTOMER BEWARE, IF YOU HAVE THE SLIGHTEST PROBLEM, BOOKING INTO THE LUCKY 8 HOTEL, YOU TO, COULD END UP IN THIS DOSS HOUSE***

This is a HOSTEL not a hotel. Avoid room 33. Dont make a reservation for the Lucky 8 Hotel, they send you to York Hostel

I booked this place for my son on line  .. when they turned up my son mentioned how much it smelt of  mould and  dirt to his girlfriend. they heard and refused them entry and told them to write an email to get there money back.. my son called me and got me to talk to the guy .. he told me I don’t care where they go they are not staying here. My son and his g.f are very respectable and didn’t understand. When I threatened to call the police for having my money and refusing entry he took the money out of his pocket throw it at my son and told him to leave....  this place gives a bad name to other hotels that trying to make a living

Better off sleeping on the street

This place is for homeless & drug addicts or just released prisoners who are treated like animals. The place smells of sick and urine or smelly homeless socks. The managers are Asian Rouge Landlords and put residents at risk by not having a fire alarm for over a year. 
When they did install a fire after fear of being shut down they ripped out Asbestos with residents still in the hotel, putting everyone at risk. 
They have no care for their customers they just want to steal your money and run to the bank with it. 
Rats run freely around the building and this place has been targeted by the local council for all sorts of infringements to health and safety.

Breakfast is served on one plate for everyone lol. You pick a cold sausage that's left in a hallway by an open back door where they store bins and the rats live in bliss.

Terrible. Please dont go here. Awful smell (butt). No soap in the bathroom. Shared bathroom and showers. Lady working was odd. £50 deposit although everything in the room put together was a tenner. Window was broken (stuck open). Stains and hairs ??? Instantly regretted every life decision.

We paid in full months in advance, when we got there we had to give a £50 deposit. From walking in it smelt like crap. Once we got to our room it was freezing, all windows were open and we couldn't shut them. there were piles of greasy balls of hair in the corners of the room. The toilet overflowed and had black liquid in it. The shower 'room' had peep holes in the wall and the light was as dim as my future. Please dont stay here, let them go out of business. We booked 4 nights, stayed one then left because we felt unsafe and disgusting.

I'd rather sleep on the streets

This hotel, to be exact, is very unpleasant, the lack of cleanliness, maintenance and discomfort of its facilities make it after all the day walking back to the hotel the worst experience of your life, what would have been a nice week in London, a week of tiredness, a dirty mattress in a very old place, the room smelling like a wet dog, the seats (shared) looking forward to going out, no option to refund money, booking us trying to help but the hotel refuses.
